Holladay

Holladay is a city in Salt Lake County. The cities population in 2000 was 14,561 and was estimated at 19,311 in 2004.

Although the city was not incorporated until November 1999, Holladay is actually the oldest continuously inhabited town or city in Utah, since Salt Lake City was abandoned for a time in 1857 when Johnston's army occupied the city.

Holladay is known for its fine old homes, heavily wooded lots, beautiful watercourses, and the controlling of commercial development and preservation of open space.

There were 5,096 households out of which 33.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.3% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% were non-families. 20.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.33.

The median income for a household in the city was $66,468, and the median income for a family was $77,736. Males had a median income of $54,216 versus $31,244 for females. About 2.6% of families and 3.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.3% of those under age 18 and 2.9% of those age 65 or over.
